<DIV></DIV>> Why do I want to perform as a bard in the SCA??? Storytelling has been a part of my life ever since I was a child. My parents would read to me when it was bed time. (Yes, some parents really did that!) In the Boy Scouts, there was telling scary stories around campfires )Real or pretend fires). I read voraciously any book I could get my hands on, science fiction, adventure (Tarzan, etc.), boy's stories, you name it. I was a member of several book clubs growing up, and books charged my imagination like nothing else. I could get lost in a world away from reality that was wonderful.
<DIV></DIV>> As an adult, the stories grew up also, but became ME telling stories to my three sons, acting out in voices as best I could. I sang in school and church choirs, so music reading wasn't a problem. I took several years of piano lessons. I hated them, so I cannot today play any musical instrument very well, but I am trying to learn the mountain dulcimer and the bodhran.
<DIV></DIV>> All of the above has made storytelling a wonderful experience for me. I especially enjoy acting out for children stories that will inspire their imaginations and create in their minds pictures that will last longer than what they see on TV. I am working on voices again, but my Irish always seems to me to end up sounding like someone from India, it seems. I will continue to work on my art, and will soon again take up poetry, though this has not been my favorite medium of expression.

Scholarly papers, which include poetry and stories and songs, appropriately documented, will be accepted on site. Steppes Archer and Steppes Champion (rapier) will also be decided, as a holdover from a washed out Warlord. See you there, look for the frazzled Autocrat.
