Bad Bards! I really do not believe there are really Bad Bards. There are bards that need help. I have seen people who were not very good, but if they kept the energy and kept their pieces short the audience liked them. A new face is worth 3minutes of time. What we need to do is show people how to do stuff. The difference of a Bardic community/college and us just being individuals is we try to share knowledge. Modeling is a type of teaching that works very well in this situation. Walk the fires and take a new bard with you. Discuss with the person what you are doing. If you good into a camp and the mood is not right for bardic explain what you saw or felt. Teach individuals how to capture an audience. Travel with Lord Finnican. The man is a genius in capturing an audience. Tell stories to younger bards about what and how good bard do things. Share Knowledge. Pick up the slack. If you are somewhere and someone bombs try to do something that picks the energy up and makes people like Bardic. Never leave a party with less energy than it had when you got there. Show people how to leave a campsite and be thought a polite person. Courtesy is a major concept in Ansteorra. Bards need to live to the idea. Bards have always been there to entertain ourselves, but for many years we thought we were there to build magic and make our kingdom come alive. The simple play or pass bardic circle is Ok for ourselves but to build magic we must work together to create atmosphere. This is a major discussion and I am tired I will talk about it later. Willow
