I do not think of you as a minor bard, but compared to the Ollaves of 
the Irish college we are all minor bards. 

One of the nice thing about being in the SCA teaching has a broader 
view. If we share period thought we are teaching. I believe you teach 
a lot. 

In the old days of the Queen's Bards we had several assumptions.

1. The Perfect Bard is totally period and Totally entertaining. 
2. The first assumption is a goal that most of us will not reach. We 
need to do things that people like and understand so they will sit 
through the period until they gain an ear for period.
3.The teaching about spirit of the Medieval and Renaissance period is 
more important than spitting out period pieces. 
4. One of the duties of a bard was to open windows on cultures so 
people can understand what it was like to live then.
