Dear dancers,

I'm acting Director of the Music Guild, and I am
mounting a "private" Early Music concert -- not
sanctioned by BG/SCA, but nevertheless utilizing
mostly BG Music Guild members. I issued a
prior announcement that, 10 days ago, was passed
along to this list by Nadine/Lowrie. (I paste a short
updated version of it below, as a reminder.)

Nadine/Lowrie mentioned to me that 2 individuals
had expressed interest, but no one has contacted
me directly. I must soon make a go/no-go decision
on the inclusion of dancers, based on enough of
them committing to perform. (Instrumentalists
would need time to rehearse the dance music.)

I have a free venue, with plenty of room for dancing,
and you would not have to pay anything to attend.
You'd need to perform, in costume, on two nights.
The choice of dances, and music [so long as it's
available in printed form], is yours.

If you're more than idly interested in performing
for an audience estimated at 50-80 per evening, I
urge you to contact me soon, before my decision
point arrives.

If you remember my original event description, you
needn't read any further, though the one below is
more up-to-date.

_______________________________________

The event, a "madrigal dessert," is like a madrigal
dinner -- only with reduced food aspirations. The
entertainment will be period music provided by BG
Music Guild members and others, both singers (10)
and instrumentalists (6-8), plus - I hope - dancers.

The production has a script. The story includes
two Harvest Fest scenes, one near the beginning
of the story and one near the end, where dancing
would be highly appropriate. In this [festival]
context, the relationship of the dances to the rest
of the story is pretty much irrelevant. They could
be anything one might encounter at a Renaissance
English harvest festival; dances performed only at
court might be less appropriate, but I'll accept
dancers' judgements.

Performances are on Friday & Saturday, July
2 & 3, at 7:00 p.m. Musicians will rehearse
ahead of time. Dancers may first rehearse with
them as late as the week of production, probably
on Tuesday, June 29, and/or Thursday, July 1,
or by other arrangement.
