[Bg-dance] Pavanes?

I don't want anyone to do a dance that hurts, or isn't fun.  I was just 
curious.  I'm not sure which pavanes other folks are doing, or honestly even if 
they're still popular these days.
  What's the framework for Cat's Exchange?  When you say "a Cantiga tune" do you 
mean one of the Cantigas de Santa Maria, or a song the band Cantiga does?  I'm 
happy to help arrange a tune for it.

Very few.  Many SCA choreographed dances get labeled pavannes incorrectly 
(Duchess Rhondalyn's for instance), and most pavannes were really just 
processional dances with little actual choreography.  So we tend to prefer 
Almans which are also processional but with a bit more choreography typically.  
Do you know what pavannes the other groups are doing?
 
Some that we do:
 
Monschaft Pavanne (earliest SCA pavanne to my knowledge)
Earl of Salisbury Pavanne
Could do Belle Qui...just typically don't since I see older knees not wanting to 
kneel (gents)
 
There is one I would like to teach, that is one I created.  Would you be willing 
to find/create an appropriate tune?  It is called Cat's Exchange.  I use a 
Cantiga tune for it, but any Pavanne music would work.

I'm going to let my dance ignorance show a bit- how many pavanes do we typically 
dance in the barony?  We've fiddled around with Belle qui Tiens ma Vie, which 
Arbeau has choreographed as a pavane.  What others?  I ask because they're 
pretty popular in other groups, they should be easy on the knees, and they let 
the musicians play with some nice harmonies.
