Sgt. James Riley, one of the mechanics captured by the Iraqis, is an
sf fan and possibly a Scadian; his parents mentioned in a news
conference that he is making himself a chainmail shirt. (He also
taught himself guitar and has a dual NZ citizenship, btw.)

Please send your prayers and good thoughts to him and his family
(including his sister Mary, who has been in a coma since January
thanks to some rare neurological disease), and please spread the
news on SCA groups.

If this guy's not in the Society, he should be. Since his unit's from
Fort Bliss, that would be a group near El Paso. (Ansteorrans? Want to
make him a knight? Assuming he holds up, I think this _definitely_
counts as a vigil....) His hometown is Pennsauken, New Jersey, so the
East can claim him, too.
