words fail
pain, sadness, joy in memory, and a debt owed for the light He shared with me
remember

Unto the Great Kingdom of Ansteorra,

It is with sadness and a heavy heart that I bring this news to you...

Duke Jean Richard Malcolmson; holder of an AoA (1987), KSCA (1993), Count (1995), Duke (1998), Holder of the Kings Blade of Chivalry (2000), Award of the Compass Rose (2000), and Sable Crane of Ansteorra (2003) passed away at his home suddenly on Sunday May 25, 2008.

His Grace was a devoted father of four: Suzanne, Rachel, Matthew, and William, a loving husband, loyal to his friends and a moral and life-loving man.  Duke Richard was respected and beloved by his Knight, Duke Patrick Michael Gordonne and his Sensei, Duke Sigmund the Wingfooted and was a member of a group of his peers and friends known simply in Ansteorra as "The Backyard".

He reigned with two Queens; his beloved wife, Countess Anora Frayne of Winward and his friend, Countess Gladwen of Ayelsford.  His Grace was a force to be reckoned with on the field of battle.  His prowess and his devotion to the martial arts were second to none.  He learned to fight right-handed and then changed in mid-stream to fight his preferred style - left handed.

Duke Jean Richard was a friend who was always there even when others were not.  We will always feel his presence in the Society through the Peers he helped to elevate and the recognition he gave to those deserving gentles in our great kingdom.  He will also be known in the modern world by the work he performed, the children he and his wife helped to raise, and the joy and devotion he had for his friends in and out of the Society.

Ansteorra, take notice, for one of your Kings has passed on to the next Realm.  We will miss you, Your Grace.

Humbly,

Duke Patrick Michael Gordonne
