[Bordermarch] Memories

Nomis,

You and I have been friends for a very long time, but I never once suspected that you had a mother! For the most part, you've secreted away the details of your childhood from those who care about you the most. Your disclosure about eating lime and apple-core cake as a child clears up the mystery of your deformed thumbs.

I trust you'll believe me when I tell you that I fully understood your "rot fluss" code. Since I can no longer trust that our communications are not being intercepted by Baron Burbon and coke, I inserted the code word "canker" in my last missive to you; in other words, don't cross over the "rot fluss" until you see the Phoenix rising!

HE Santiago

Dear Baron,

Your story reminds me of my mother who used to make cakes from whole limes. While the cake was rather chewy, we were always in
good spirits regardless of our plight. For a special treat she would add apple cores to the mix to soften things up...oh those
were the days!

I must apologize for using too complicated of a code for my approach. I figured your keen mind would understand my meaning. I am
now worried that the time you have been spending listening to the Baroness for long hours has dulled your wits.

On my way to you
Nomis
