saturday K & I left our humble town cottage to trek 2.5 hrs up to the
sleepy little town of Crockett, TX...The drive was pleasant as i did
nothing to cause alarm or shrieking...we arrived @ the site, which was
located in the middle of town @ the town park...Crockett has never had an
SCA event so many people had many questions...We must all be english as I
saw no mad dogs...the temperature was a cool 101'f...so when we did fight
it was not for long...Ld Michael "the Backyard Centurion" & I did have
chance to wrap rattan around each others helms...He gave me choice
instruction and, as @ every event i have been to, was very selfless in
teaching & giving pointers to increase my sword-bearing potential...Did
get to meet many splendid new friends & aquaintances...I do have messages
from Don Charles & Cadet Aethos for Don Armand & Ld Chrestien...Both
gentlemen performed for the gathering crowd using toothpick & dagger...Don
Charles' wife, Lady Kitsune & Mistress Jolloly? (sp.) blessed Karen & I w/
lengthy discussions of artwork both mundane & gamewise...Lord Devin,
RavensFort scribal officer, & I had a chance to discuss all things scribal
as well...To all those whose names escape my memory but not their faces my
sincerest apologies for there are many...Ravensfort has much love &
respect for our barony...K & I were treated w/ the utmost kindness...The
benefit was a rousing success for the Cantu family...Tory Cantu was
diagnosed w/ rheumatoid arthiritis @ a very young age & very recently
developed a sepsis infection which overcame her immune system...this all
happened very suddenly causing financial strain on the family...In lieu of
this families tragedy Karen & i are very pleased to have helped out, have
fun, & meet new & bright shiny people...If you have access to my facebook
acct. there are like a gazillion pics of the event...so feel free to
peep...blessings & tidings, Beau & Karen
