Ok, try #2. I know what a "longbow" is, but the tiny tourney says "longbow" and "crossbow", does this mean it will be "longbow" only (besides crossbows)? I was inquiring because I don't shoot a longbow, buy my bow is a period self bow (in look, not construction).

Lady Rhiannon,
Lord Jason is probably busy, perhaps I can help.
I get the feeling that Lord Barnet is teasing you a little. The tournaments are generally open for traditional bows and crossbows. Not just longbows.
Archery bows are generally classified in 3 categories: traditional, crossbow and compound. There are dozens of types in each category.
Traditional bows (any bow not a crossbow or compound) can include short bows, long bows, recurves, English Longbows, Horn bows, Mongolian, etc. Literally dozens of different types.
A longbow is determined by the string. The string can only touch the bow at the ends of the limbs (generally no more than 3/4 of an inch resting on the belly of the bow). Any more than 3/4 of an inch and the bow is considered a recurve.
Reflex-Deflex bows are classed as longbows because the string only touches the limb ends.
This is an oversimplified NON technical answer for non technical shooters. Anyone wishing to make a technical point please use a new posting.
