Hi Lisa,

Check out www.reconstructinghistory.com  I believe she says something along
the lines of tartans not being period because the regulations that assigned
them to the different clans came from the British post period.  I think she
also says that Kilts as we know them aren't period either.

But don't take my fuzzy-headed word for it.
