Greetings Archers of Bryn Gwlad!
Our old and determined foe, the heat, has struck a hammer blow to us these past few weeks and it behooves us to be wise in keeping ourselves properly hydrated. Today, the heat index was above 105 degrees (that's what it felt like in the shade); if you were in the direct sunlight, your body thought it was over 120 degrees.
The Sunday tourney will be more of the same, high heat, a modest humidity and a dry, south wind. All of which can leave your body parched before you truly realize what is happening. So bring plenty of non-caffeinated, low sugar drinks for the Tourney tomorrow. I will be bring out the water bearers coolers with drinking water and disposable paper cups, so hopefully 10 gallons should get us through the tourney and court.
Wear light weight clothing, made of natural fibers (no synthetics) of a light or nuetral color. We tend to forget that our Barony is along the same latitude as Egypt - so it really gets hot here in the summer!
So, start hydrating yourself with water when you first arise Sunday morning and keep hydrating yourself before, during and after the event. Dehydration, heat sickness and heat stroke are deadly, sneaky enemies - only the unwise underestimate them.

See you at McNeil Park on Sunday!

 In Service there is Honor!

 Ld. Alfred Huddlestone, Baronial Chiurgeon
