Yay! We have combat archers, at least those interested in becoming so. We are SO going to need you at Gulf Wars.
Havent' see this much interest in any one thing in a while!
Unfortunatley it is a complicated area to break into. But that makes the challenge that much more rewarding.
So it is also just luck of poor timing that the interest is sparked just a little too late to get it done for our event.
But hey, there will be CA at our event! If you can't compete you can participate.
Help with the tournament so you can learn what happens in a real shoot.
Get tips from the masters and the first timers.
You can meet the other people that do CA, that are authorized and that can help you.
You can watch a real CA tournament.
You can find out about other CA activities coming up soon and maybe even encourage some to happen.
With all of those people and equipment available, maybe you can arrange a chance to get in some practice, not
as part of the tournament but because the stuff and people are there.
And if you get really close before the event, maybe you could even get authorized at the event. Not in time for the tournament
but at least at the end of the day you might be authorized for the next one. Or at least you would know what needs to happen
next, and maybe even where, when and with whom!
It can be disappointing not to be ready to partcipate and to only have "work" to do. But working in your area of interest gets you
connected, gets you some experience and can lead to some play time as well. You can partcipate even if you can't be ready to
compete, but the closer you are to ready, the more involved you can be in the tournament. You can put in your time as part of
the process of working towards your authorization.
Since we are not doing a lot of other things at this event that leaves you a lot of time and energy to devote to this activity and
the same for those competing in it. They won't be running off to the next activity. They may have time to stick around and do
what on the fighting field would be called "pick ups". You might ask the steward if time and place can be arranged for that to
coordinate with the tournament. Then formal announcements can be made to encourage people to plan for that time to train
new people. You might have to be in charge of coordinating that and making sure the right marshals are committed to being
there.
Once the authorized CAs see you participating in CA activites, they know you and know your interested and dedication and are
then in a postion to appreciate your quest for knowledge. They'll probably be overwhelming in their enthusiam to help you join
their ranks.
Demonstrate what you do know about CA to those involved and you are that much closer to authorization. Actually that goes
for ANYthing that requires an authorization.
