[Bryn-gwlad] Archery and the Moustache War

The side with the best archers always enjoys the archers. Bryn Gwlad had
Steppes beat hands down in that department. It ruined Inman's day. I'll be
happy to tell you more, but honestly, if you can get Baron Johann to tell it
you are in for a real treat. It was His War and he's a great storyteller.

And for those of you later come to the Barony, the War was caused by Baron
Robin of Gilwell accusing our noble Baron Johann von Graustein of using his
(Robin's) moustache badge and insisting Johann remove it from his face. The
losing side paid the winning side in chocolate chip cookies, if I remember
correctly.

I look forward to meeting you if I haven't already.

Rhiannon

(This msg copied to Baron Johann in the hopes he will tell us a story.)

OK that was just not right, teasing us with a story and then not telling it.
Please tell the story please. Hopefully someone can clear something up for
me please. My mind set is just a dumb old grunt, see the hill, take the hill
and kill everyone on the hill, so I need some help. I would think that the
heavy fighters would love to have the archers there. If you are 30 fighters
going against 30 fighters and your side has a dozen archers that could each
get off two rounds before they get to you, I would think some would be
killed and make things easier for the heavy fighters if some of the enemy
are dead already.

For a really good story about shooting at Dukes, get some of the oldtimers
to give you Duke Inman's response to the archers at the Moustache War. Yes,
we (the Bryn Gwlad archers) did not make him happy.

Try as I might, I could not think of a good reason to go through the trouble
of getting archery combat qualified until I read your post. Now shooting at
Dukes now that could be worth all the trouble. Sorry I just could not
resist.

Hoping people realize it was a joke..... Archery ... reach out and kill
someone
