I generally figure on three hours from Austin to Houston, so in that 
sense, Mapquest is more accurate.

If you live in south Austin, you should take Hwy 71 to I-10 to 
Houston, rather than going up to 290 and back down to Houston. (As 
you can see from the map, I-10 and 290 hit loop 610 about a mile 
apart, so your end-point is pretty much the same.) Otherwise, that 
route is fine.

It's been 25 years since I lived there, so things may have changed, 
but IIRC, that area is a bit on the "rough" or "scruffy" side.
