If you go up I-35 to the north side of Fort Worth and then take U.S. 
287 to Wichita Falls, the speed limit is 65 or 70 pretty much the 
whole way. (We drove it both ways, the week before Christmas, going 
up to see Rosalind and Logan in Northshield.)

Google Maps says Austin to Wichita Falls is 303 miles, which crunches 
out to 4 2/3 hours at 65mph.

U.S. 183 to 281 is a more direct route, But I'm not sure if it's any 
quicker, because you're going through a lot of small towns and the 
road isn't as big (287 is 4-lane divided highway all the way.)
