Hmm. Not hot at Gulf Wars? Then you obviously didn't make Gulf Wars I
and II when it was held in June. Although even then I'm not sure
whether it was the heat or the humidity which was worse.
I have found some of the later Gulf Wars, even when held in March to
be hot. Plan for both heat and cold. Invariably when I try to guess
and skimp on clothing for one extreme it turns out to be that extreme
or to change to it. Last year was a good example. I bought a wool
outfit and a linen tunic from a merchant because they were some of
the few that I've seen which were good fits for my persona (1150s
Anglo-Norman) instead of being simple, generic T-tunics. I expected
to wear only one of them at that Gulf Wars and ended up wearing both.
I do now need to find an experienced seamstress to re-sew the trim on
the wool tunic which is coming loose and unraveling. If anyone is
interested in taking on such a job, please contact me. Since this is
the most I've ever spent on an SCA outfit, I don't feel my sewing
skills are up to doing this repair job.
