Sure, good point. If our Rapier Marshal cannot be at PiP he makes sure 
he has a deputy to bring out the loaner gear and take care of business. 
If the hospitaler cannot be there he should also have a deputy there to 
greet people and introduce them to the SCA. That could and should be 
done if it is not already.

However, I got the idea there was more to your complaint that just that. 
After all, you are not a new face. What's more, you said that there were 
"a few outstanding exceptions" who came up to speak to you, but clearly 
that was not what you were looking for.

So, let me ask this a little differently: What would it take to keep 
newcomers -- and others -- from feeling ignored and to make them feel 
welcome. Would having one guy out there to say hello and make a few 
introductions really take care of that or is this a bigger problem that 
involves us all?
