I suggest you isolate the purpose of the demo: (it could be one or all of
the following or any combination in between)

1) to get new members

2) to make up to Alamo Drafthouse for letting them down on another demo we
said we'd do.

3) to have a good time

4) to do something that fullfills the reason we are members of the SCA -
studying and re-creating and re-enacting the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

5) to have an opportunity to dress up like pirates and act silly. (wait
- that was Number 3)

And then figure out how to do this so you get the most people
participating. Demos needs to be co-ordinated with a theme and with a
purpose or it degenerates into chaos. Having watched a great many demos
thrown together without thought (both in the SCA and in other groups)all
that does is results in people thinking we have no particular skills and
knowledge and no planning. Even professional entertainers have a
routine/practice or co-ordination so things look good.

Figure out what you are doing, how you are doing it and then do it. A demo
is a mini-mini event in a funny way.

Cordially,

Clare
