"Folks, I say this as a registered authenticity freak: do the stinkin'
demo because it will probably be fun (which should be THE reason that
you play in the SCA) and because you may draw other fun, creative people
to the SCA. "
I think that about sums it up :-)
I haven't been active but since you guys are clogging up my mailbox,
I figure I get to say something.
I LOVE the alamo drafthouse. They have fun. They attract people who
are fun. The trailers they show before movies are hillarious. If you
don't like the freaking demo, vote with your feet, and don't go.
And if the current active SCA people don't want this demo, let me
know, and I'm sure the Austin Improv Collective (austinimprov.com
:-P) will jump at the opportunity to dress up, be silly, and build a
relationship with the Drafthouse, whether or not the audience realize
that the dressed up pirates are actually "improvisers" and not
"actors" because "actors" are not really "improvisers". What?! You
don't care?! Most people don't care if you're dressed in 16th or 17th
century costume either! But you get to push a flyer at their face and
talk to them and change them to be more serious authenticers (or have
fun in the SCA).
Emeline: email me directly if you are short in people, I can be there
from 9:30 to 10:30 pm only (nl33 at cornell.edu) but can adjust my
schedule if you're really short on folks.
Cheers,
Lowrie -- even less political then ever.
