[Bryn-gwlad] A Rebuttal on Drafthouse and Demos

I won't be able to make the demo due to my current swollen, moody,
pregnant condition. However,
In my opionion, most of the people who would see said demo don't
really care if pirates are or are not sca period, nor do they care if
heavy fighting is not 'piratey'. If they have an interest in
dressing up an hitting people with sticks, they will ask for more
info. If they are just there for the film, then they will think
people dressed up are cool for getting them in the mood. If they
are really set on the pirate thing, there are ways to do it
appropriately - Just ask Don Piet.
You know, often on the way to an event I listen to music to 'get me
in the mood'. Now I am sure you don't care, but most of this music
is not Period. It is mostly music I picked up from artists at
renfests and filk stuff and Steel Eye Span (complete with electric
guitars). Not everything has to be Period to get you into the SCA.
I think Attendance at the demo is more important than if your garb is
piratey enough or in the correct period.
-Robin Anderson of Ross
(Who by the way got into the SCA thru a Fantasy Group)
