Bryn Gwlad's Newcomer's Household is a pretty good idea when it is running.
I think having more people than just Sion trying to spot and greet newcomers
is helpful. The next step is to have a diverse set of interesting activities
that are accessible to new people, if anyone in the Barony has time to run
such things. I'm fairly social, so Commedia and Dance both worked for me.
The Baron's Men is great too, but it might be a little demanding for a
newcomer. The occasional low-pressure cook-it & try-it type gathering can
get new people involved as well. There's nothing like food to make a
connection (well, except for hitting someone with a big stick).
Is there anyone doing garb-work that isn't in the rarified atmosphere of
laurels and proto-laurels? That might help too.
