Sorry Charles, that's exactly your job, IMHO,

To see folks standing aroudn the edges lookign shy,
to walk up and introduce yourself,
and lead them by hand and to introduce them to folks who are into
their area of interest, (heavy, light, brewing, etc) and to a few 
generally freidnly folks.
