[Bryn-gwlad] 'scuse me while I get on this soapbox

problem is the "young" of today, are not the "young" of the hey-day the SCA
... the world has changed, the children have changed with it, what was
relevent yesterday is not necessarily relevent today (such a obvious trap
for a historica recration organization .. ). for the most part those
children have different perspectives and priorities than "we" had way back
when (70's for moi and my clann). if you peg the future survival of the
organizantion on them making up the numbers of the height of the curve, then
the SCA is doomed to extinction ..... like all societal systems, the SCA had
it's "golden age" that is passing, and if it want's to survive it needs to
adapt to the reality that numbers alone do make the organization .... ergo,
time for it to re-learn make do with less - like it once was (a lesson
*many* facets of our real-world society will have to re-learn soon)..

'wolf
... quality vs quantity everytime.

such obvious things to us historian / sociology types ....

I wasn't trying to say that younger people were better members but that we
need more people to start young in the sca and grow with it, we have lots of
great older members now but they won't be here forever, we need to realize
that so we can start a cycle, catch them young so that in 10-20 years they
have the experience with the sca to keep it going. As for what I do I have
gone to every demo except one I believe since I joined the sca and am
working with Isabellica and others to work on our recruiting. What have you
or Master pompous done?
