[Bryn-gwlad] status of 'newcomer project?'

Greetings all!
 
Recently, during our discussions of newcomers, one gentle lady offered to compile our suggestions. I'm afraid I cannot recall who that was!
 
It occurred to me that (from the persoective of someone who still feels quite new, even after almost 6 years) there is one suggestion that could be considered the most important. In my mind it is this: Listen. Just ... listen.
 
There was some concern about overwhelming newcomers with information. In my opinion, we can avoid this by doing more listening than talking. Ask questions, and really pay attention to the answers. Be curious about them. I think others have mentioned this already. (And in my experience - in the SCA and elsewhere - I don't stick around long if I don't feel heard.)
 
If the lady who is creating the compilation of ideas could contact me, I would very much appreciate it.
