Boy, this all sounds like fun - wish we weren't going to be out of town.  But we will, on that date, be visiting the Shire of Rokeclif in the Kingdom of Northshield, and maybe - just maybe - we'll be able to sneak away to Warriors and Warlords for a day (still negotiating on that one).
 
I have to concur with those who have pointed out that many people have never heard of the SCA.  My family is full of history buffs; my husband minored in history I think, and even went to school at Berkeley for a year or two, and he has never indicated that he knew of this organization before we became involved.  I learned of it totally by coincidence, while reading some 4-H record books at an eight-year-old's birthday party last year!  Had Tabitha not brought her kids' 4-H books to that party, and had I not taken the time to read them through instead of just flipping the pages, I'd still be unaware.
