Mr. Perez is also the city/state's representative for the Austin Archery Club.  He is knowledgeable of the laws and ordinances.  He may be able to answer any questions about archery in Austin, Texas city limits.

One other consideration on crossbows is liability insurance.  Impossible for private property owners, almost impossible for a certified archery range.  A new, improved  archery range is being designed in Cedar Park, I will let you know if crossbows will be allowed.  The range will be part of the Texas Dept. of Parks and Wildlife (which promotes hunting with crossbows), but will be within Cedar Park city limits.  I will keep Lord Jason advised.
