Yes I agree, hopefully the rivited will last longer and have few repairs, still not a bad price for rivited mail. And thank you for your post on the aventail.

Well, in my experience, riveted mail does come apart in combat. It lasts 
much longer than butted links, and losing one link doesn't create a cascade 
effect in the surrounding links, but it does develop holes with repeated 
blows. This appears to be especially true anywhere the links can get 
anvilled in a blow (solid armor under the links and really solid blow). I 
think the only way to stop that is with welded mail.

I would expect the same to be true for aluminum. I'm with you on the 
preference for flat rings, but I don't know what difference it will make in 
a hauberk.
