[Bryn-gwlad] Update on Lord Douglas

Lord Douglas had two heart procedures done today at
the Heart Hospital of Austin. The first was
"cardioversion" where his heart was shocked in the
hopes of it restarting with a normal rhythm. He has a
very irregular heartbeat (they use him at his work to
train nurses on the EKG machine!). This procedure was
performed twice today but his heart went back to its
wild beat both times. This problem will continue to
be worked on with new drugs and perhaps another
attempt.
His second procedure was a catheterization procedure
where they ran a line up to his heart through his
femoral artery to check for blockages. They found
three - two arteries at the front and back of his
heart were 90% blocked and one on the side 75%
blocked. We are very grateful that this has been found
before he had a heart attack! They put stents in the
first two to keep the arteries open. He'll be in the
hospital through Friday.
He is in room 258. I anticipate he'll be bored out of
his gourd until he's released if anyone wants to visit
or call tomorrow. If you want to send an e-mail, I'll
be happy to take it to him - please write to me
directly as I'm on the digest which would take longer
to receive.
Amata
