[Bryn-gwlad] Direk and Brand

Truth be told, the two brother's (there are actually four Lancaster  
brothers, but that's another story)  true last name is in fact  Lancaster.  
Interestingly, all of them also kept their real first name's  for their personas as 
well.  Direk selected his different last name because  many moons ago, he was 
squired to Duke Sir Ivan the Illustrated, a HUGELY  successful fighter and gosh, I 
think he won Crown some 6 or 7 times.   Hence, 'Direk Ivanovich.'  Ivanovich 
is Slavic (I think!?!) for 'Son of  Ivan.'  He was paying homage to his knight.
 
As for what's going on with the whole banishment thing and all, I can  safely 
say that no matter who you talk to, you will hear a biased story.   As I am 
sure most of everyone in this Barony knows, Kingdom politics  are never cut and 
dry.....it's never an easily obvious good vs. evil, black  and white issue.  
I am at least glad for the Lancaster family's sake that  the details of these 
issues are not being made overly public since, for obvious  reasons, this 
probably goes beyond the SCA for them.
 
The one thing I *can* say is that no matter what is heard or said, the  
Kingdom of Caid is still a beautiful and noble Kingdom filled with good  people.  I 
only hope that these matters will be lain to rest soon with the  least amount 
of disruption and negative feelings as possible for all those  involved.
