I work with Interfaith Care Alliance (Now the Care Communities) http://www.interfaithcarealliance.org as a volunteer. They are a service organization that partners up individuals who have aids or cancer with a team of individuals to aid with small things around their house and life. Household chores, shopping , transportation to visits etc, as well as simple socialization.
ICA is always looking for new groups to sponser a care team. What that means is individuals from a specific group will work together as a team with an individual care partner The requirements are only 4 hours a month for any individual volunteer, though ICA does request a 1 year commitment
Would any of you be interested in forming a care team. I spoke to Roger Temme at ICA about the possibility. he can come out and speak to the barony at a PIP or something to see if anyone is interested and either schedule a specific training day at the ICA offices, or can make arrangements to meet us somewhere else if we so wish.
If there is enough interest I will contact Roger and begin the process to have those individuals who wish to help out get together. Just email me offlist if you are interested.
Sincerely, -Brett Chandler-Finch
Take my hand, my child.
I will show you the morning sun.
I will teach you all that I know.
You can share with me the secrets of the heart.
It may not be a fair exchange,
But it is all I have to offer.
