Stefan, it's not the police officer's fault that Round Rock has such 
an ordinance. He was just doing his job.

He didn't arrest anybody, he didn't write any citations, he didn't 
even threaten to do so. According to Jason's post, he was "polite but firm".

It *is* a little confusing that the Parks and Rec people said archery 
was OK when I first asked about it back in 2003 and that the police 
haven't said anything about it in the past; I'd guess that this is a 
case of the left hand not talking to the right hand. Alternatively, 
since the new Ikea store has opened up next door, McNeil Park may 
just be getting more official scrutiny.

But if you want to write letters of protest, letters to the Round 
Rock City Council asking for a change in the law would probably do 
more good than complaining about a police officer enforcing an existing law.
