Hello Rahil,
I am so very glad to see someone else from a sensible
climate in our Barony.
Since Al-Andulus was a part of the Arab trading empire (a very large
part in fact)you could reasonably use any finer quality table gear of
the time. It wouldn't be unusual to have a few pieces of real china
even. I can't give you exact china patterns right this second, but there
are a few that did make it into the Kingdom of Granada. I'll go look it
up again.
Personally, my family prefers to use painted glass wares, similar to
majolica, that we make ourselves. There are several fun patterns that
are period to the Iberian peninsula. Any book of Mozarab or pre-Mozarab
art has a selection of repeating patterns that look good on glass and
you can make a photo-copy of at the library. Then follow the directions
on a bottle of Glossies (found at Hobby Lobby in bunches of colors) and
you get personalized, period plates.
If you send me an email to remind me, I can bring ours out to Populace
in the Park or wherever you might be next. Also, I have some books you
might want to look at as well.
