[Bryn-gwlad] Feast Gear

I started off with a set of whitewashed wooden chargers and those old wooden
salad bowls from the 70's. I was afraid of eating off of the chargers after
I saw what my knife was doing to the finish. I can also be terribly lazy
when it comes to handwashing dishes, so the thought of all the things
growing on my plates wasn't too appitizing either. Then I found some nifty
ceramic plate that are very sturdy (They were in a tent on a table, the tent
rollled over and over tossing everything around like a rock tumbler, and the
plates were fine in the feast gear box that I had packed them in. So was
the beer in the cooler). They are also very heavy, and I like to have
things that I can move around by myself if I ever need to. Then I found
some stainless steel plates and bowls at Academy for about $2.50 each. They
are dishwasher safe, lightweight, compact, and transmit heat very well. I
use them for all my feasts, but still bring a wooden or ceramic one for
listside events where my food survives well being out in the sun - the
plates don't heat up as fast. I also had some nifty pewter tankards, but
they always made my beverages taste funny, so I got rid of those and got
some handmade ceramic ones. I am still trying to find the right shape for
those, but they have held up fairly well so far. I fantasize about those
nifty Venetian glass ones, but I am sure they would be crushed in my feast
gear box.
