I don't know about the MW, but at Gothic VII I lodged a bolt in Ferghus
McKenna's chest. I had borrowed some of Ld Jehan's baldar-blunted bolts
and the Barony's crossbow for my first foray into combat archery, and
Ferghus and I ended up on opposite sides of a bridge battle. One of my
shots hit him dead in the chest, and the Baldar blunt got stuck under
his gorget flap and the top of his kidney belt. We both got a good laugh
out of it, it was a one-in-a-million shot, and I just wish I'd had a
camera with me.
One of the marshals was less amused. He looked over at Ferghus to see
what the fuss was about and saw 15" of shaft and feathers sticking out
of his chest, and the concept of 'crossbow bolt' didn't spring to mind;
he apparently thought for a moment it was a longbow arrow, and got a bit
concerned about where the other 13" went....
