[Bryn-gwlad] Chivalric Tiny Tourney - Tuesday 9/12

Please join me in celebrating the onset of Ansteorran Tourney Season with a 
Chivalric Tiny Tourney.

On the feast day of Saint Guy d’Anderlecht, being the twelfth day of 
September, for the entertainment of the Baron and populace of Bryn Gwlad, I 
will hold a tournée à plaisance at the usual Populace in the Park locale. 
The list will be fought with weapons of the contenders’ choice in a 
single-bout double-elimination format (if the list is too large, I will 
switch to single elimination). The competition is open to all currently 
authorized chivalric combatants.

As I know all entrants will be on their best behavior, at His Excellency’s 
pleasure I will award prizes for

    * first entry into a tournament
    * the most breathtaking death
    * the most inspired dedication
    * overall champion

What? You say you’re authorized but that you’ve never fought in an SCA 
tournament and are unfamiliar with the elimination format? The single-bout 
double-elimination format means that in the first round, entrants will be 
paired off for a single round, losses in which will be tallied to determine 
the pairings for a second round. At the end of the second round, any 
combatant who has suffered two losses will be eliminated from the 
competition, and pairings will be drawn again. If at any time the pairings 
result in an odd number of combatants, one fighter will fight a by-round 
against me (losses in the by-round will not count against the tournament 
results). This process will continue until only one combatant remains with 
less than two losses.
