August Greetings!  

Our next business meeting is scheduled on 
Monday, August 6th.  Bids for Candlemas are
due at this time. I've heard some great ideas. 
Last Candlemas, we decided to hold our Rapier
championship at the same time.  This made for
a full schedule in addition to the A&S and 
Bardic championships.  When competitions are
held at the same time, most people are unable
to compete in all of them.  It is my hope
that this Candlemas we will focus on just 
the A&S and Bardic competitions, so that   
more people may enter them.  Then plan on 
the Rapier & Archery championships at our 
autumn baronial event of 2008.  (Chivalric
and Equestrian will continue to be the 
focus at the Lysts next year).   

Bryn Gwlad will have our third annual A&S
tourney in the park on Tuesday, August 7th. 
This is a "Show & Tell" display to share our 
art and/or art projects with others. The
populace will vote on their favorites. 
I'll also choose artisans to honor.  

In preparation for our event in September, 
I am requesting award recommendations by   
Tuesday, August 21st.   Recommendations 
should be submitted in writing and may be 
mailed, emailed, or given to me in person.  
If you opt to send a recommendation directly 
to the Crown, I request a courtesy copy.

We will have an Appreciation Tea in honor
of the Bryn Gwlad Peers, past and present.  
This is a revel for EVERYONE to enjoy! 
Please visit the Wells Branch Community  
Center (the same location as our recent revels) 
on the afternoon of Saturday, August 25th.
