Greetings Master Tivar & All,
This is a worthy discussion. When we talked about spreading out
our championship events, I originally envisioned alternating years.
This year we've included all of our championship events:
A&S, Bardic, and Rapier at Candlemas, with Chivalric and
Equestrian to be this fall.
The Lysts at Castleton have shifted the focus of competitions
to Equestrian & Chivalric (although we also hosted Queen's
Champion this year - soemthing to consider again next year).
What I'm actually suggesting for next year is that autumn
event focus on Rapier & Archery so that we can celebrate
these activities with as much pageantry as the Lysts.
The last few years our barony has experimented with
alternating championship (and non-championship)
competitions. While we've continued to enjoy
our traditional gatherings at Candlemas and our
baronial event in the fall - we've changed things
around each time (though the Lysts is becoming
its own regular tradition). It is my hope
that we'll continue to try to new things.
Thank you for starting this dialogue. I hope
others will share their thoughts as well.
