As one who holds title as a Champion of Bryn Gwlad, and as a former
holder of that title, both in archery and bardic, I must say I agree
with Ysfael's statement, and hope that I can live up to some of those
who came before me.
As far as what events to hold them at, I see two possible solutions.
1- Hold Chivalric, Archery, and Equestrian at Fall Baronial, and hold
Rapier and A&S at Candlemas, with Bardic at either event as desired by
the Baronage. This cuts down on the number of tourneys held at a given
event and lets us concentrate more on putting on a good event than
smoothly running a seven-ring circus. I have said for some time that I
dislike events being too 'busy', since that prevents us from having the
kind of fun 'color' activities at an event that make our events most
memorable.
2- Hold Chivalric and Archery one year, Equestrian and A&S the next at
fall Baronial, A&S at Candlemas, with Bardic at either event as desired
by the Baronage. This would make our 'combat' Championships two-year
terms, which might make some of our fighters feel that their area is
being slighted. But it would allow more time to plan unique and
interesting tourneys.
Of the two, I actually prefer the first, so long as we keep in mind that
every event doesn't have to have every activity. Otherwise we defeat the
purpose of splitting them up in the first place.
