I'm a bit confused. The desire to compete in as many martial areas as
possible is "unrealistic", and therefore "hard choices must be made",
but the desire to participate in both rapier competitions and A&S
activities is reasonable and it's unfair for you to have to choose
between them?
As for the reasons the championships were split in the first place,
while some individuals expressed excitement over the idea of being able
to vie for multiple championships, the reason for the change cited most
often in our discussions was the fact that putting on gigantic events
that incorporated championships in all the major fields of S.C.A.
combat was immensely draining on the populace. The sheer scale of the
endeavor left volunteers stretched thin and attendees feeling rushed,
harried, and frustrated. It was hoped that more focussed events would
be easier to put on and more fun to attend. And I, for one, have found
them to be so.
