Back a few years before dirt was invented, I remember a time when events
were 2.5 day long affairs. You got there Friday evening, reveled in
someone's tavern until the wee hours Friday evening, enjoyed the event
all day and night on Sat. then arose early on Sunday to enjoy the event
until about 4p - 5p on Sunday. There was plenty of time to have bardic,
archery, chivalric, rapier and A&S events.

Those days are long gone...and as I've noticed over the past year or so,
Event Stewards across the Kingdom are not even *trying* to keep folks at
the event site until Sat. evening...much less Sunday afternoon. Events
are now, primarily, a one day/day trippable affair.

Why? I've heard a variety of answers. But one thing is for sure, we
will continue down this path as the new generation coming into the SCA
sees that this is the status quo...unless we do something about it.

I would counsel to revert back to our younger years...hold the events on
Sat. *and* Sunday. Give folks a reason to stay and enjoy the event.
