It wasn't *quite* that bad. If, for example, Maelgwyn and I were 
paired in the first round, we'd go out and fight armored, then step 
off the field and start changing into our rapier gear while the next 
pair fought. Once all the armored bouts were finished, the rapier 
bouts would start. Once they were finished, the tiebreakers with 
projectiles would be run.

In the second round, we'd start with the rapier bouts (rather than 
making people change *twice* per round) then switch back to armored gear.

Third round would once again be armored first, then rapier.

Bearing in mind that there were only twenty or thirty fighters in the 
tournament and that this was single-elimination (so every round would 
only have half as many fighters as the previous round) the tournament 
usually finished by mid-afternoon.
