This is excellent to hear!
Laszlo, Gods know I ain't trying to horn in, and feel free to flame,
but as the daughter of a lawyer, I have to ask you, how far have you
seen that you can....massage the rules?
Where manpower is the problem, such as manning a West Mall table,
what are the rules governing that which MUST be done by UT students/
staff, and that which can be done by any nutter willing to show up?
Instead of putting this all on the few of you, where can you stretch
your manpower by asking for help from the barony?
My personal experience (fwiw), setting a signup list out there can
work nicely. If it is OK for a non-student to man a table for a few
hours, just come out and say, "We are having a West Mall table on
September 14 between 11:00 and 4:00, here are the open slots and
times (having secured an actual UT person for setup and takedown),
who can contribute an hour or so?"
If it takes being UT students/faculty/staff to secure space for
something (like, oh, say, that yummy ballroom for a feast), does that
person have to be the legal contact (i.e. steward) of the event, or
once the room is secured, can anybody steward?
If a UT student/staff/faculty secures space for another purpose (such
as an embroidery guild), does that UT student have to be physically
present at all times the door is open, or if they know those
embroiderers won't Van Halen the place, is it good that they can open
the door and lock it once the embroiderers are done?
In short, in the activities you want to do, given the limited number
(at this time) of UT people, where MUST there be a UT person, and
where CAN you get away with any random Barony person? Know the
boundaries, obey the boundaries, and communicate the boundaries to
potential participants.
With that as a given, what is the maximum amount of fun, again as a
lawyer's daughter I ask, you can get away with?
Sincerely,
Amanda S.
