To which Eule offers:
Being one of the folks who wears them, we jokingly refer to them as
"Grand Canions". ;-)
 
Easy to make....if I can find some documents detailing their
construction, I'll bring them to practice tomorrow.  But, there is a
good chance I won't be able to find them.  However, myself and two
costuming Laurels (all of us have made many pairs of them) will be there
tomorrow and we will be more than happy to chat with you about their
construction.
