Lights, Camera, Shakespeare! It’s 1934, and Shakespeare’s most famous fairies, Oberon and Puck, have magically materialized on the Warner Bros. Hollywood set of Max Reinhardt’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Instantly smitten by the glitz and glamour of show biz, the two are ushered onto the silver screen to play (who else?) themselves. With a little help from a feisty flower, blonde bombshells, movie moguls, and arrogant “asses” are tossed into loopy love triangles, with raucous results. The mischievous magic of moviedom sparkles in this hilarious comic romp. The latest hit from the author of Broadway’s “Crazy for You”, “Lend Me a Tenor”, “Moon over Buffalo”, and “Twentieth Century”. Winner of the 2004 Helen Hayes Award for Best New Play, “Shakespeare in Hollywood” will charm your socks off! The Lion In Winter Auditions: TBA Performing: Friday, March 21, 2008 - Saturday, April 12, 2008 Written by James Goldman
Directed by Sharon Drane
Ostensibly, the family has gathered together to celebrate the Christmas of 1183 at a castle in Chinon, France. In reality, each member of the family is there to promote his or her own interests in determining who should rule England. King Henry II summons his cunning prison-bound wife, Eleanor, to his side as he prepares to announce the succession of the throne to one of his three double-crossing sons, none of whom are qualified to rule the monarchy. What ensues is a battle of royal wits that pits son against son, while cunning King Philip of France takes advantage of the family feud in a bid to destroy their kingdom. Written by James Goldman, “The Lion in Winter” is full of comic repartee creating an experience of wickedly intriguing fun.
