First, the upcoming Yule revel is themed as an English sailor's
celebration, taking place some time not too long after the defeat of
the Spanish armada in 1588 and inspired by that victory. England
experienced a massive influx of immigrants in the second half of the
16th century, so middle- or working-class clothing from that period
from just about anywhere in Europe would fit the setting.

It is in preparation for Candlemas (which will be held on the 2nd of
February) that so many people have been talking about Viking-Age Norse
clothing and accessories. That event will be set in 890, also in
England, as a (royally-decreed) celebration of the new, fragile peace
between the Anglo-Saxons and Danes of the time. Anglo-Saxon and Norse
clothing are the most logical choices, but clothing from adjacent areas
wouldn't seem out of place.

In any event, there is no requirement that you dress to suit the theme
of any particular event. Doing so can add to the fun, as it
contributes to the "flavor" of the event and helps you feel a little
more like you're visiting the time in question. And it's a good way to
support the people who've planned the event, not only by helping them
create the desired atmosphere but by showing your willingness to enter
into the spirit of the day. But if you don't have clothes that fit
into the setting and don't have the time, money, or impulse to get
them, showing up dressed to suit your own persona's culture and era is
perfectly acceptable.
