Raised beds are all the rage out here.  Much better soil too.

That's the one thing I never liked about Leander... Being the green
thumb i am , and liking pretty flowers. 
Makes it hard to dig a garden when you have 1 inch of soil then 2 feet
of limestone.

I have been trying to convince my wife that we should just "plant" rocks

and maybe a cactus or 2 then cutting grass is not so much a problem.
