Turner Classic Movies channel, Monday, 11:20 PM - 1:45 AM,
_A Man for All Seasons_. True classic, four stars out of four.
Oscars, Oscars, Oscars. Sir Thomas More versus Henry VIII.

On a lighter note, the Usenet newsgroup soc.history.what-if has been
having several continuing stories of an alternate history in which
Henry VIII never broke with Rome and commissioned Thomas More to be a
traveling inquisitor against the forces of Protestantism.

More. Thomas More. A secret agent, agent naught-naught-VII, licence
to kill (anyone below the rank and estate of gentleman).

    The King had been displeased that the War on Error was not going
    as planned, that the heretic Calvin was still at large with his
    theology of Mass destruction. ...

    "We're on a mission from God."

The stories so far:
* _On His Majesty's Most Secret Service_
* _Cassino Royale_ (about the monastery of Monte Cassino)
* _From Geneva with Love_
* _Thou Art Only Born Again Once_
* _Thy World is Not Enough_
and, currently being posted,
* _Another Dies Irae_
