But As Gaston said, most illustrations I an bring to mind seem
To show 2 h weapons the front leg bent slightly.. which does not seem to
fit with what I've been told of late about how the barrier is "supposed"
to be fought...

Anyone know where they are getting the references from?

(Who hopes to find enough references to get a few fought the old "fun"
way on occasion)

The convention I've seen used most for barrier fights nowadays require
the fighter to be 'in contact' with the barrier, but not with a hand.
The combatant is required to keep his/her front leg in contact with the
barrier.
