I think that Gwyneth's suggestion is the best.

The next suggestion I would have is to check out the very rearward part of 
the trunk for holes or something that you can put bungee cord hooks into to 
try and restrain your wayward SCA box. Or you can add some hooks or eye 
bolts to the trunk to use said bungee cords on to arrest the thumping box.

Alternatively you could put a wookie in the trunk to hold the box in place.

Or you could just drive in less of a reckless manner, you know like an old 
person....slow start, slower stops, turn at less than 2 mph, make everyone 
around you mad at you for being on the road at all.
